Just out of interest, what brand/type are the 245/50s?
Try the following thread, there was a discussion on how wide a tyre you could fit on an XD-F. You would be pushing the boundary, and the wheel offset would be critical. It is suggested that using an XY diff (which is 1 or 2 inches narrower) would help.
Of course there is no substitute for mounting a tyre and fitting it up. Make sure you try both sides if you do this as I have heard of variations side-to-side.
$275 each? I have Hankooks (H101 I think), I think there is a newer model out now but I got one to as a replacement about 12 months ago for $180. Welcome to the world of unusual size tyre pricing, hey?
A 295 on a 16" rim would be an extremely tight fit. I'd say if your car is lowered then you can forget it. My 275's are fine for the street and only rub with passengers around hard corners.
Depends what you want to do with it.... but I reckon actually finding a 295 for a 16" rim would be harder than making it fit.
dont you guys mean 15" rims bloke up here has 275/60/15 t/a's on 8.5 convo pro with xy 9 inch under ass 295 will not fit unless you mini tub my other mate had 295/50/15 on 10 rim under xc ute more room there than xd/e with xy nine inch and they were tighter than a fish's ass he went back to 275/15/15 on same rim.

i had 16x8 simmons with 255/50's on this xf. as you can see it wasn't lowered but still scraped on drivers side so i rolled the lip up. tyres were goodyear nct. not sure if they make them any more.
