hey people, the copper contact thingo behind my steering wheel is worn out, it only works when the wheel is turned 90 degrees to the right, which means that my horn and cruise control buttons are useless unless im turning a corner to the right :S

i rang ford, and its an obsolete part apparently, (i forgot to get a part number) and there arent any hanging about in any dealerships that the guy knows about.

does anyone have one? or know where i can get one? it has to be for a EB XR6 with the MOMO steering wheel, they are different i believe...

please help???

if you like i can do some digging around at the local dealership - it is a long shot, but they have had parts lying round there that i've been chasing for ages without even knowing it.

I'll see what i can find tomorrow - no promises though.

I've been talking to Roman Autotek about getting a wheel. They have the wheels in stock, but no cruise pads.

They had one style with the buttons horizontal, however are out of stock. They are looking to get more in the original style. Give em an email, the more intrest the more chance of getting them in.

Rollin, have you trired one off a different momo wheel? When I changed the momo on my old EBXR, I thought the contacts were same with a previous EB I had with an aftermarket momo boss and wheel...

psycho chicken: i dont want a whole steering wheel, if thats what you thought i meant - there is a copper ring attached to the back of the wheel/boss kit that turns with the wheel, and there is a long copper contact that pokes out of the steering column and touches that ring, to transfer electricity from the wheel to the column and the horn/cruise module. the copper contact is worn out on my car (i think from excessive lock to lock sideways manuoevers

)and i need a new one - i think it holds the indicator and windscreen stalks as well, im not sure i havent pulled it that far apart yet.

EBXR: i dunno if they are the same, when i rang ford spare parts (yeah..first mistake!) they told me that there were different ones, for with or without cruise or depending on the steering wheel. i might ring again later this week.

I know you don't want the whole wheel, thought you might get away with a replacement center pad.

nah i dont want that either - the buttons work perfectly on the wheel, but its the contact on the steering column thats fuct - you cant see it inless you pull the steering wheel off, its attached to the column...

my mate got his bro's old wooden aftermarket steering wheel and a boss kit and the copper contact was worn and wouldn't reach the ring so we took it up to my other mates house who fixes everything and he got out his oxy and melted more copper onto the end of the contact made it longer then filed it down now it works perfect u might not have access to an oxy but just trying to help out
