Hey guys, how hard is it to change the handbrake cable in an EA sedan?, mine has fraid and wont disengage. :(

any hints on how to do it?

Pretty simple with a few simple hand tools. It helps if you are a contorsionist (sp?).

Buy a new one from Ford and take it from there. I found the trickiest part was getting the rubber grommet part seated properly in the sleeve in the floor.

Have a go, not worth paying someone else to do it.

I would like to know any tricks too. Mine broke today so I will be replacing it on monday. Max Ellery's gives you very little info on this.

Martin, got about 250,000k's from the handbrake cable (the front bit from the handbrake to the adjuster) in an EA wagon I owned.
