How difficult is it to replace a broken front lug bolt (stud) on a 1999 Windstar?
I was just simply doing a tire rotation when I encountered some resistance while unscrewing one of front lug bolts. It torqued out normally, but then after a few turns it got more difficult to turn. Then then bolt snapped. I was just using the lug wrench that came with the vehicle.
I've changed many tires, but have never seen this before. The lug bolt was slightly bent where it broke and there was still plenty of thread left on it which was clean and not cross-threaded.
Anyone have any idea how this happened? The tire shop was the last one to touch this tire at the last rotation.
Back to my orginal question... Is it difficult to replace the broken lug bolt?
