When you are bleeding the brakes, and you unscrew the bleeder valve next to the brake assembly so that you can bleed them, what direction do you turn the valve to loosen it? This would be on the passenger side. My valve is stuck and I am afraid I might be trying to muscle it in the wrong direction. Thanks for the help. Also, is the master cylinder "cap" (the cap you remove to add brake fluid" supposed to be on or off when bleeding" Again.

Anti-clockwise to undo all bolts on cars - on passenger side that would be towards the back of the car for you (or the front of the car for us on the right side of the world - lol!).

Cap should be off.

Mate, I agree with outback_ute - no such thing as a stupid question - the only stupid one is the one that isn't asked!

Another easy way is to remember how you open a bottle of Coke - turn lid anti clockwise to loosen....

Sport72, you should leave the cap sitting on the master cylinder, sometimes they can squirt fluid up, and it the caps not on, it can go over the paint, paint and brake fluid = big no no....

If you cant get the bleeder loose, well, its fairly common for them to seize.
Put a ring spanner on the bleeder and give it a few taps to "crack" it,
A worst case scenario is snapping the bleeder.

If you really cant get it loose, give it another go when things are fairly hot - it may help.
