Iv been readin different posts an im confused, i basically wanna know whether i will need new shocks & a C/C kit? If i do need C/C kit what would be an average price to go on? Im keeping the standard 15" ghia wheels for a while yet so im hoping i wont have to bother with C/C Kit till after i get 17 or 18" wheels! & if it's necessary to get new shock's, will cheap low shocks be ok? The shocks on it atm are monroe gas something or other, not the standard ones but i imagine they are the same height..
One last thing, how easy is it to fit the springs myself, if i dont have to replace shocks or install C/C Kit that is? to save myself 80 or so bux labour..
going superlow without shocks change worsen your handling and comfort. You will definetely need a c/c kit regardles of what diameter wheels you have.
You can change the rear springs yourself i guess as once you jack up the car they will almost fall out but unless you have a spring compressor and you know how to use it i sugest you take your car to a workshop as a demented body part ain't worth $100

Ok that's cool, thank's for the advice dude. Do you have an approx idea how much a C/C Kit will cost? For now im not worry'd about handling or comfort, unless it's gonna be extremely bad i can put up with it untill i can afford good shocks.
Would it be cheaper for me to change the rear springs myself, then gets the pro's to do the front, or would it just be an hr's labour or so either way? Cheers
you dont need new shocks if you have gt gas as the monroe range is non ride height dependent i have the superlows in the front of my 97 xh and it feels great. the ride is comfortable and handles well. if your shocks are fine dont worrie about them.

well I suggest you get the super lows and new front struts with lower saddle as I believe your EF will be like mine (will have the front about 1inch higher then the back and with full tank of fuel on board will be a bit more). I'm in process of aquireing some new front struts as well. Worry about the c/c kit later as when your suspension shop will install the front struts they will have to do a wheel alignment and will try and force you into a c/c kit but just tell them you want them to try and fit shims to correct the alignment, if they say they can't do it go to a different shop. With shims you get a superlow ef to a standard ef with no shims level and they only cost 20c each.
Shocks for lowered cars are very different then your standard shocks, for onc they have a different valve setting, they are physically shorter and the front ones have lower saddles. When you go on super lows you will want the lower saddle shocks and on some cars if you don't get the rear shorter shocks you will hit the shock before the bump stop, some have the bumpstop on the actual shock and the travel of the shock will be severely limited.
Imho don't be stupid and go for looks over handleing and safety as it's more fun drivig a car that handles then a car that doesn't :) besides you feel good when you take 3rd gear corners flat out :)

I was told by the Kings springs guy that you need short travel struts !!! Also written in the catalogue.
check the monroe website even with a lowered spring they recommend the same shock. it's in the valving that makes a difference. i wouldn't reommend using standard shocks. but the gt gas are fine with superlows.
Cheers Dayne.
