I am about to install koni reds with SL Kings. Has anyone got any idea about the best street use setting for the shocks. Full hard/soft or in the middle. What number of turns should I set them on?

Start with full soft, then work your way up till you get what you like, if the front feels ok on that setting move to the back, stiffer is not always better, its a matter of trial and error but with a little bit of fiddeling you will get what you want.IMO just go a little bit at a time.....Cheers

Provide us with some information to work with! What car? What motor? Front and/or rear? Do you know the spring rate? How rough are the roads that you drive? City or country driving? What characteristics are you after? How many turns do your Konis have?

The Koni's are on the softest setting new. With SL or SSL Kings you'd want to keep the shocks on the softest, anymore and you'd be driving around in a go-kart. This is presuming it's a daily driver.

dude, I got SSL with red konis and they are NOT adjustable, they are only adjustable for servicing, if you wind them up, they'll fail in no time....this comes straight from Top Performance, the Koni importer in melbourne, they said if you want adjustablity buy the yellows...

They are definately adjustable, you push them all the way down and turn. There are about 2 to 3 turns lock to lock where you can have them soft to hard. On the rear shocks there is even stamped writing on it indicating that they are adjustable.

I just want to cruise in the car. Its an EA Fairmont. Since its hard to adjust the shocks when they are on the car I didn't want them too soft or hard. By the sounds of it the softest setting sounds like it should be OK for my purpose. I've put them on the hardest setting and I can see its way too hard to move them compared to normal factory shocks.

You thought wrong. They are adjustable in rebound.

Guys the Koni reds are adjustable. You have to compress the shaft fully & turn clockwise to make the shock harder.

For a good comprimise between handling & comfort adjust the front up .75 of a turn & the rears up .25 of a turn

Make sure you take the bumpstop off the shaft before you adjust but make sure you put them back on with super low coils

I have the Reds in the front end of the EL with King Low springs on full soft

They are too soft for my liking (especially with the bilsteins in the rear)

will be having the struts pulled out and stiffened to something in the middle. Should be sweet as then.
