Im pretty sure my XY needs new shocks, and while im at it i may as well get some shortened springs too. It is just a street car, but in the future i would like to a little bit of drag work with it...
Being a wagon, and old etc, its leaf sprung rear end, can i put shortened shocks in the rear, or will it funk up the ride quality? Ive got some lowering blocks, i think they're 2 1/2 or 2 inch, so im looking to use them, and lower the front down about the same... just so it looks "right".
What do you reccomend? I cant have it too low because,
1, Im 6'5"
2, We have a really steep drive way, and i dont want it scraping.
3, I like being able to drive around un-noticed by the authorities =)
Ive got a good idea what needs to be done, i just need prices, brands and pro's and con's. Thanks.
I got the pedder's front shock's and lowered spring's in my wagon as well as the rear shock's and reset leaf's, this was done about 6yr's ago though, sit's nice just the way I want it.

What about sway bars? I want to upgrade to a 1" unit... where can i get one of these from? Is the wrecker my best bet? because ill need the bushes too, my Dad has a lathe and can probably make bushes out of Nolthane. Or is better to just buy them?
if you take the leafs into pedders, costs you $220 to get them reset, and add another $50 to add an extra leaf to each side to prevent sag.
Getting it done to the XA soon.
Pedders in Geelong reset the leafs in my HT Kingswood. Both main leafs ended up cracking and breaking in half.
The operator that reset them is either an idiot or has no sense of personal safety. They were resetting the springs cold. Wish I knew that before I had them reset instead of finding out after the springs had failed.
If you want to reset your springs take them to a spring works. These guys actually know what they are doing.
For around $500 you can get a new set of leaf springs made. I had King Springs custom make my springs.
Spoke to Dad last night, and one of his old school buddies resets springs... properly. Not with a blowtorch like he used to. I'll get his name off Dad tonight, and give the guy a call. Or get Dad to come down with me to get it cheaper... =)
So all i really need is shockers... Stick with Pedders?

Pedders shocks used to be rebadged Gabriels. Gabriels are available at supercheap. I don't know if they are the same models and have the same valving.
I would never bother with anything less than Koni's. The handling improves and they are cheaper in the long run as they last longer and can be rebuilt.
Yes I'll agree about the Koni's,I just went with the pedder's because back then when I did it, money was a bit tight and the pedder's were cheaper but know I'd go for the Koni's, Bilstein etc.

The rear bushes have been done, probably no more than a month ago. Great fun!
How much are Koni's going to set me back? I dont need the racer spec, fully adjustable, Grand Turismo Ultra Lites. Something to tighten the front end up would be great.
