Lug nut studs

I have a 2002 mercury cougar with vision wheel rims. The problem is the studs are too short for how thick the rim is and the lug nut only threads on half way. I'm still looking for stock/steel rims with a 4 x 108 pattern, but how reasonable is it to track down longer studs? Maybe there is a different car with longer studs that will fit right in?

Re: Lug nut studs

Your local parts store should be able to fix you up with longer wheel studs. Places like Autozone may not want to sell you something different for safety reasons (to cover their butts in case something happens) but I bet a smaller store will have or can get what you need. In the meantime be careful if you are driving it the way it is.

How many turns are you getting on the lug nuts? Proper thread engagement on your application is 8 turns.
