Hello-

I am rebuilding the brakes on a 69 Mustang Fastback (351W) as part of a restoration. There is a shield I cannot find in Ford's factory service manual. See the attached photo. It is attached to the (drum) brake base plate, with a fibrous "gasket" between the two. It looks like a dirt shield, but I cannot find it in the FSM. What is this part, and what can I use as to replace the "gasket"?

take a look at what holds the axel in the diff housing, there is usaly a plate like this one that holds the axel in the housing.

this is a ges whith out beaing able to tell how big it actualy is.

I believe it is a shield that protects the inner seal. There is a very similar looking part on the Australian falcons.

I would just go to a auto store/industrial supply and by some gasket material ie 1-1.5mm thick soft type and cut your own new gaskets.
