Gday i whilst up on the hoist at pedders yesterday my friend that works there said somethin that had me stumped.

"wheres the wire off your speed sensitive solonoid on ya steering rack"

now i thought that the speed sensitive bit was only on EL Ghia up. so its got me stumped. the solonoid is definately on the rack and you can see wherethe wire is sposed to go.

where does the other end of it go though, so i can reconnect it.

it certainly explains why my steering is light as all shit

Well could be anything that uses the VSS wire as input, cruise control, ECU, trans computer (but in all my readings on ECU and trans ECU dont recall a wire for it).

i was also under the same impression Wayne. Mabey your car has had a replacement rack from a EL/ghia/Fairlane/LTD some time of its life.

scott seemed pretty positive that it should have had the wire being an NC...... i was like um ok.

i was also under the impression that the EB-ED column wotn mate up to the EF-EL rack..........

NC Fairlane Series II, saw the
introduction of ABS Brakes and speed-sensitive power steering, and some of the late NC's also have it.

yes your right Wayne, EA/D steering column wont mate to EF/L rack.

ford-girl, my car is a series 1 so im even more stumped.

i had never heard of SSS in anything pre EL

i might attempt to put some voltage to it to see what happens
