Need help with wheel bearing/CV axle
Trying to help a friend and am lost at this point. THe Haynes manual is usless as one would expect. '86 Ford Taurus with 3.0L and auto trans. Has a noise coming from the front drivers side front wheel/CV axle assembly. Figured it was the CV axle and got it replaced. Noise still there. Before throwing more money at this I need to help her out (poor college student) figuring whats really wrong. Is there a separate bearing inside the front hub/spindle assembly that might be going south. It sounds like a bearing but thought swapping the CV axle would solve all that. Seems to be worse at slower speeds and also pitch changes depending on whether your turning left or right, etc... She had a brake job done recently and the rotors were not swapped, so I first thought maybe warped rotor, but again it sure sounds like a bearing. THanks again for any help you can offer.
