My old man has an NL Farlane and the self leveling suspension keeps shitting itself, i think hes on his 3rd compressor cause the ppl at ford have no idea what wrong with it...
anyway, he wants to put normal shocks in it. i know this shouldnt b a problem, but what is needed to be done with the compressor, does it just need unplugging? and will this then send warning signal to the comp? because it beeps and flashes when ever it goes down
any suggestion or comment would be appreciated

I disconnected my EA Fairmont Ghia self levelling suspension a few years ago. All I did was replace the shocks to normal ones. The only problem was that when I took off forwards from standstill the back end of the car raised up about 40mm. If I reversed from standstill the back lowered about 60mm, which wasn't good for angle parking rear to kerb. Other than that there was no unusual noises, performance wasn't affected and the car cornered and handled well. Drove the car for several months like this (without any problems) until I changed to lowered/stiffened K-Mac springs and shocks.

Why would it and how could it raise and lower with normal shocks?
Don't know why but it did! changed to K-Macs and was fine. Most likely something to do with the self levelling springs being about 120mm higher and very soft.
My SLS has been no real problem in my EA Ghia, I pulled the compressor apart and gave it a good clean and a service, put n new rear shocks, and its been fine can't complain, shame yours keeps breaking, I like the SLS.

I agree, it's a pretty good thing when working properly.

What's that?..... Did I hear you say TQE power?
what happens is that if its been sitting for a few hours, its really on its arse, turn it on, and it sloooowly pumps up. if its got a load in the back,it will try to pump up but fails and sometimes when driving, the warning light on the dash comes on and it beeps at u.
so basically, he can just unplug the compressor fuse, replace the current shocks with standard ones and its all cool?
or cau u guys suggest any remidies that couple possibly fix the problem, as i said previously, ford dont think theres anythign wrong with the compressor.... maybe some faulty valves somewhere. i really dont know much about that side of things...
thanks guys

Sounds like the shocks are leaking or one of the lines.
Monroe make a GT gas shock to replace the standard units.
