Pulls to the left

Help me!

When I put on the brakes in my XB (4.1 6, manual column shift) , the steering wheel moves towards the left and the car will move toward the left unless I hold it, in which case it goes straight.

Would it be a caliper (I did pull the front right off and it did move) or could it be something else like a bad wheel alignment (The car does tend to pull to the left. I need to get that fixed, when I have the $) or perhapes one of the back drums is stuffing up. How can I prove it is a caliper?

I have had the rotors replaced because it used to have a vibration on braking, The rotors couldn't be skimmed because thery were under the legal limit.

Thanks

Re: Pulls to the left

Probably a caliper - the slides could be sticking. Could also be something as simple as air in the line (probably on RH side) which stuffs up the braking on the right. Bleeding the brakes will fix this, so give this a go first.

As the car pulls to the left under brakes the steering wheel will pull that way too. If it was wheel alignment, car would tend to go left all the time.

Re: Pulls to the left

Thanks for the reply. I haven't thought about air. Actually, I don't know when the brake fluid was last replaced, so I might as well bleed out the whole system while I'm at it. (I've only had the car for 12 months).

The car does need an alignment though. It pulls left all the time. When I get the time..
