Question Removing Rear Discs

Just wonder how the rear discs come off on an EL falcon.
I'm told its differant to the front where they have the nut in the hub
Whats the go with removing the rear ones before i touch them

you should just be able to remove the caliper and pull the disc straight off. its not like a EB setup with the handbrake cable and stuff - its easier than the front.

you will most likely find that all you have to do is remove the caliper, then there should be two screw/bolts/allen heads in the hub/hate, just remove those and it will slide off in your hands

Hmmm . . I thought there was tricks to do with the bearings etc if you remove the discs . . .

I know AU's are a breeze to remove, but thought EF / EL's were significantly more sucky . . . ( Hmm . . time to dig out the ole workshop manual methinks )

The trick is how to remove the bearings if you want to replace them ....... other than that straight off.

I just spent all of saturday replacing the rear rotors on my EA, the atual rotor replacement takes about 10 minutes per side ( remove caliper, unscrew retaining screw and slide off ) but when you find you have a seized caliper on one side, one which refuses to come off the car ( brake line was locked in place etc ) thats when it turns into a time consuming job. Ah well, now I have anchors at all 4 wheels

Yep, remove your calipers, then the retaining screw is usually the hardest to get off, once that is done, you'll be able to remove the discs.
