hi guys. stupid question time. im running 225/60R15s on the ea. i only checked my spare the other day and surprise surprise its a 195R14. my question is if i get a flat will running a 14 inch tyre damage the car if the others are 15inch. i heard if its on the back it can stuff up the diff. final stupid question is would a 225/60 fit in the spare tyre area in the ea boot? cheers. ian

A 195R14 is significantly bigger than anything you could put on the car. It sounds like someone put aftermarket 15" mags on the car with those tyres, kept an original 14" wheel and put a cheap 195R14 2nd handie on it.

You can do two things:

1. get rid of of the spare and get a 2nd hand 15" pre-AU rim from wreckers, and a 2nd hand 205/65R15 - the whole exercise could cost you about $50 if you don't get ripped off.

2. get a 195/75R14 2nd hand tyre for the spare rim.

The size difference between the three sizes I've just mentioned is negligible.
