My XF has done this for months and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse or doing anything, but it would be good to know whats causing it, what it can do and how hard/how much it would be to fix. Whenever the steering wheel is even slightly to the left theres a loud squeaking noise, centre the steeringwheel or turn it to the right side of centre and it goes away.
Any ideas on what it is please tell me.

shit!!! mine does the same thing!!!!! i thought it had something to do with the boss kit/momo/aftermarket wheel but i took it all off and the only part that i could see that looked like it might be rubbing was the indicator assembly on the actual steering shaft. i greased it all up and put it back together and it went away for about a week and now its back again.....anyone else know of a possible cause? mine is really loud and embarassing when you can hear it over the exhaust at idle!!

Nah, I can tell its not rubbing. If i hold it slightly to the left while driving along i can hear it.

mine seems to do it when i turn the wheel to the right and only at a certain spot during the turn..its annoying!

I had the same as BLO GMH, except it only hung for a month and never came back. That was over a year ago. Maybe it might just go away
