When I purchased my superlow king springs from autobarn we noticed that in the catelogue it states that u need lowered sports shocks to suit the rear springs as without them the springs may fall from their seats...
now i know a few ppl around here are running stock shocks with s/l springs but what i really want to know is, is it just the rears that are at risk of this?
and in which case would it be a good idea to go for a set of rear shocks to suit the springs (the springs haven't been put in yet so it would be easier to get the shocks now and put them in with the springs)
should the front springs be right, at least for now, with a set of standard shocks?
is monroe gt gas cheaper than gabriel for rear shocks? as the guy at autobarn reccomended the gabriels but at the moment i don't really care how they perform as I want to go for an adjustable set in the fairly distant future....

apparrantly they work, they are just more likely to bottom out. at the moment i can't afford front shocks tho, and was wondering if there was a problem with the front springs falling out of their seats as with the rears, or if it's only the rears that are at risk of this?

you need short stroke shocks to to hold the springs in and to stop the shocks bottoming out which will screw the shocker if this happens and dont forget to put the bumpstops from the old shocks onto the new ones as for the front depends on whether the coils are progressive rated eg have a few thinner coils at the top of the coils cheers greg
the front springs do have a few thinner coils at the top, yes...

nah Ive had king superlows with standard shocks for alomost 3 years and they DO NOT fall out, the king springs if sat next to a standard spring sit t at the same height, they have full travel just like a standard spring, the reason they sit low is cause of the temper of some of the coils, thats why king springs always have some coils thinner than others !

and they don't fall out when the car is jacked up?
interesting...

you will probably kill the shocks more than anything. this is what happened to my mates car lowered it then a few weeks later the rears shocks were stuffed. just get some cheap short level shocks for now untill you can afford to upgrade. ill probably just get monroes or pedders.

In my particular situation, I have installed super lows all round on my car (EA). What I found was that with the standard front shocks, the springs definately weren't in any danger of falling out, but they did make the car sit very high, a touch higher than some cars who have had lows installed even. I bit the bullet and and got some pedders sportz ryder shortened shocks, and the car sits much, much lower than it did before.
This is in my car though, I know many people who use standard shocks with superlows and they've never had the problems I had with ride height. As I said, Shocks and springs are weird things....
I know the standard shocks are likely to die, as I'm planning on upgrading them as soon as i can afford it anyway - but from what's been said the rears don't actually fall out of their seats when the car is jacked up?
i may just go for some cheap short travels for the rear anyway tho cos by the time i get around to getting them in i might be able to afford a pair lol
