Hey guys just looking for your opinion on lowering my car, I am thinking of going for King springs and koni adjustables but I cannot decide if I will go low or super low (any opinions?).
Also are the koni adjustables worth paying the extra money for or should I just for monroe gt gas shocks and is 819 good for a set of 4 koni shockers and king springs (parts only), the monroe are 468 with springs.

How much difference in height are the standard tickford springs to King Low Springs/Superlow?? If you install Koni adjustable shocks does that mean you can basically at a twist of the knob control the height adjustment??

Hey Davocol where did you get the quote for the konis from....

I was talking to a East coast suspension the other day and they quoted me $150 a pair for the king springs and said the Koni sports ( ajustable ) where more expenisve than the Bilsteins, which he quoted at about $550 for the front and $300 for the rear....

He said that the Koni non ajustable where about $50 - $100 cheaper than the Bilsteins but the Koni sports where about $50 - $100 more than the Bilsteins.....

Also just to note he recommended the Bilsteins out of all of them.....

Pegesus..... the xr6 springs are 1 1/4" lower than standard, and i could be wrong but i think the kings low are the same...
I think the Superlow are 2" lowered....

And the ajustable knob on the konis ajusts the tension ( stiffness) of the shock, dosent directly change the height... :)

Would you recomment East Coast Suspension to do the suspension work?

Will probably get these done in the next month or so. I have a deep angle down my driveway and I don't particularly want to get the car wedged or keep scratching the kit when I go in and out of the driveway thats why I was concerned about the height.

As far as im away its factory standard ride height? Although the previous owner could have put in lower springs.
But its probably as low as I want it as its a daily driver, although Ill see how it looks when I get some 17s on there and if its too high I may drop it a bit.

BTW: What do you drive? Any pics?

Hey guys, I have decided to go for the king springs which I can get for 195 for four (www.performanceparts.com.au) and also the monroe shocks. Although its against most advice I am getting I dont think I can justify the extra 500 dollars, As I have a fairly small budget and Iwould prefer to get an exhaust also. I drive an ED Fairmont and I will post some pics in about a week or two after I lower it, Right now it looks like a 4wd :) with the standard srpings in. Thanks for all the replys and most of my quotes were from the site above but another good place was in North melbourne called Suspension City his prices was far better than any competitor I had spoken to. Thanks again I will let you know how it all goes :)

Not sure if its too late for you...

I would recommend the Low King springs, and the Koni Adjustables.

(thats what I have on my baby)

I bottom out everynow and then, but the stance is very good!!

King Springs are $90 a pair (for lows or super lows)

Koni Adjustables are $ 360 a pair for the front, and $190 a pair for the rear. (these are the externally adjustble ones - ie the ones with the knob at the top that you turn)

Internally adjustbles, and non adjustbles are a lot cheaper.

I am running King superlow springs and Koni adjustables. It has had the most effect on the overall performance of the car more than anything so far. A vast, vast improvement over stock.

As for how I have found them, in terms of practicality, well in short, very good. Yes my car is rather low, but if you take your time with tricky steep approaches / exits, and give it some angle (hey Kell...) , then there are generally no worries. The things that give me the most trouble are speed bumps at the top of a steep slope, like in Castle Hill carpark. As the car goes over the verge, the combination of longish wheelbase, low front, and speed bump on the verge can conspire to a scrape or two, but to date most have only been on the chassis rails. Undercarriage damage has been very very limited so far.

I have bottomed out occasionally, but only when there's been a bit of a load in the car and I've hit a fairly impressive dip with some kph.

But all in all, if you are careful around carparks and steep approaches/exits, the superlows are no trouble. And the stance with them is just plain pants-splitting! :s6:
