i'm wondering wether to keep the tickford susp. in my EF XR6, or put monroe gt gas shocks and heavy duty springs in. i've got the monroe setup on another car atm, which can be put on. the other option is to leave the tickford shocks in and just put the monroe springs in, or go the whole lot??
Keep the xr bits and just put some Kings springs in and mabe some bigger sway bars that'll be a nice road setup......

Wouldn't you love to say that about your car?You loosers
Neither. Try a set of Bilstein or Koni shocks. Often the valving can be custom setup in the Bilsteins to void the requirement for different springs - unless you want to lower the car of course. I don't want to sound like an add for Bilstein but they are well worth the extra bit of money, esp if you really want that BIT extra out of your handling. Or try a set of Koni's with an adjustable bump and/or rebound setting.
Save your money please and fit some decent gear or leave the tickford items in

Funny that. The Tickford stuff used to be Monroe anyhow so why rubbish Monroe??? It's all in the valving.
For extra info, I find the standard Tickford/FPV stuff to be pretty good (I won't comment on the front spring rate of FPV stuff because in my opinion that's why the cars don't get traction out of corners) when new. However, after 20,000km the shocks just seem to lose it. My AU2 rear end came good again when I threw a new set of OEM shocks at it even at 23,000km - the difference was noticeable!
Moral: Monroe doesn't seem to last very long.

AP thats what I was laughing at, from the same factory made for Ford/Tickford cars. Classic isn't it.
You're right they don't last long, I find the valving tooo soft at the fronts for 8's, mine are long overdue for replacements at 57,000 clicks.

TIKFD6:
I think your info is out of date. Don't Delphi or someone like that make the shocks for Ford now?
