The TX5 gets 17's!

Hey guys,

Just had 17's put on the telstar :)

I think they look great. The car needed new tyres for rego and I wanted mags, so I got two birds with one stone. I got Federal SS595 215/40/17 tyres and they are sticky as hell! The old ones were pretty lethal on dry roads let alone in the wet. These ones take a lot of effort to break traction, even in the wet.

It desperately needs lowering, but it'll have to wait till after rego. Because of the size of the front wheel arches, it makes it look like the car is sitting stupidly high at the front, but it's actually sitting level. I am thinking about putting super lows in the front and lows in the back, what do you guys think?

They were on special at Bob Jane for $1159, but I paid $1229 because I got better tyres and got them filled with nitrogen.

Your not kidding. It looks way high at the front. After the lowering is when the wheels will truely come into their own. I reckon it makes them look bigger too.

I mean they look good now but they will look waaay better after a dumping.

Re: The TX5 gets 17's!

It's a bloody stupid design! lol. Who makes bloody wheel arches so different in size, it makes the car look stupid!

The EA is coming along slowly. It's still playing up though!! I've been short on funds lately because of rego and other commitments. I got the wheels 6 months interest free. As it stands, the engine is mostly together, just need to get some head bolts and modify the sump. I am going to finally get off my ass and put the interior in this weekend. I really have to start researching the 3 spd > 4 spd conversion as well. I've decided I'm going to whack the turbo on the old (320,000k's) engine to start with and see what happens! I would like to get it roughly tuned on the old engine so there is less chance of anything bad happening to the new motor.

Once I get rego and these wheels out of the way, I'll be putting some more time and money into it.

Looking tops Daniel, you've done something I haven't gotten around to. Did you need to pay a deposit on them?
