tyres and brakes, brakes and tyres

hello peoples, in the near future i'll be getting new tyres (225/50/16) and front brakes (discs and pads) for my EF sedan. At this stage i'm thinking Dunlop formula 901's and slotted rotors with Bendex Ultimate pads. Anyone got any other ideas or suggestions???

I have slotted discs and performax pads on my wagon, and I've said it before I'm still not 100% confident with the choice of pads - maybe when I get the rears done it might improve. (sometimes I just don't like the "feel" of the brakes) Slotted discs - GREAT.

With the tyres - I started off a thread a while ago and after reading what others were running I finally settled on the Toyo Proxes FZ4 (225 50 16). At one stage I thought they might be wearing a little quick but they have settled down nicely and have just had their 35Thou rotation with still plenty of meat on them. Oh and they are still pretty quiet. Certainly worth considering.

is it true that you can't machine slotted rotors???

I asked the same question when I had mine fitted and they assured me they can, I THINK a brake rotor is machined using a much wider "tool" (for want of a better word) than say a lathes machineing tool.
