does anyone make brake upgrade kits(without paying through the roof) for EBs and the like? i.e. larger diam rotors, and/or twin/four piston calipers etc..
Previous ride: EBII V8 Manual Ghia spring roll.
Current ride: 1970 ZC 351 Fairlane Custom.. (estimated 350ftlb @ 2000rpm.. max torque 420ftlb at 4500rpm.. with standard exhaust manifold!)
I looked at doing an brake upgrade on my EB XR8, Cebco was what I looked at. I was warned to speak to my insurance company before doing any after market brake upgrades.
We all know it is going to improve braking, but from what I was told by a brake guru, is if it does not come on that model car, and if you have a prang and are caught with these after market brakes, wave bye bye to a payout.
I contacted the NRMA and asked them this myself and they said a BIG NO.

can ELGT or EBGT brakes be fitted?
What are you running now? What about DBA slotted rotors with Bendix Ultimate pads? Or are you after a bigger upgrade?
I wonder if an XR6 Turbo set up would be a more cost effective option...

Dont take my word for it, call them yourself.

I am just passing on what I was told. Yes you could throw the EB GT brakes onto my EB XR8, and all legit. (EB GT - EB XR8 - EB GLI - They are all EB Falcons) But some after market brands, I spoke to my insurance company and they told me a BIG NO.
I think I used the wording My model car. My model is an EB, Yes I can use EB GT brakes and it is fine, but If I go to some company who makes an after market twin spot set up, and toss it on the car, they will not cover me.
Now do I risk running an after market kit, sure the car brakes a heap better, I have a prang, my insurance company looks at my car and says " These never came out on an EB Falcon, we will not pay you out"
I always offer the same advise to people and if the agree/disagree it's up to them. I have insurance for a reason, if I do something my insurance company does not agree with, then I run the risk of losing all, plus owing money to someone else.
are u sure its not just your insurance company?
Upgrading Brakes is considered a mod by most insurance companies.
enquire with them first as it may depend on the company

The only difference between EB GT and Eb brakes is the pads themselves.
Eb2 on also have the dual diaphragm booster that the EB1 v8 introduced.
You have to go to the EL GT before you get the 330 mm twin piston setup. Even then you need the proper EL GT front uprights as these were modified by Tickford.
I would have thought the same thing. Mate if they make brakes to an Australian Standard then what the is the problem. Again I contacted my insurance company and was told a big nope.
I am sure there would be companies out there that would cover this sort of stuff. At the end of the day. My car gets used on the road with the family and the DBA's I have on there do the trick nice. For something like your car, which I saw at all ford day (very nice and love the wheels) I think a brake package like that would be a must.
