I am getting front slotted DBA rotors put on today. Originally I also planned to have Bendix Ultimates whacked on the front. However, my mechanic spoke to a brake specialist who recommends LUCAS pads - a bit cheaper and apparently better as they bite in the cold whilst the Ultimates need to warm up a fair bit to be effective.
Anyone know what's best? What do I do? Quickly!! I need to call him in 30 minutes or less
Thanks guys.

I've got dba slotted and bendix ultimates up front, and while the ultimates dont work to their absolute best when stone cold, and they squeak a little when cold they are in no way dangerous to be driving on in the morning.
It usually only takes one hardish brake from around 30kmh for mine to stop squeaking, and their bite picks up straight away.

Advertised as $4000ono. Price is negiotable for a quick sale.
The brakes are all done (along with everything else). They squeel when braking lightly, but hopefully that goes away when they're bedded in properly. On the topic, how long should I give it before using the brakes hard?
FoMoCo4eva, I paid around $100 each for the front slotted rotors, and about $80 for the Ultimates up front to match.

never really heard a good thing about ANY product made by lucas...pommy company i believe, and for some reason sonce the year dot any mechanic i talk to has a very low opinion of them...
nobody ever seems to have bendix metal king plus pads either- i have them all round with cross drilled and slotted rotors all round, and you have to use a bit more pressure than other cars, which i like, as its much easier to modulate under hard braking than a touchy pedal.
im very happy with what i have, though they do seem to give up a lot of brake dust, at least with very open design 17s.
