you should have a tyre placard somewhere ( inside the drivers door???) that will take the guesswork out of it

I have original Ford Fairmont/Ghia brochure with ESP section in it for XD model.

It says "Bathurst Globe alloy wheels and ER60H x 15 steel belt radial tyres".

I still have the original 7" wheels on the front wearing 205 x 60 x15 tyres.
Is yours an XD or XE?

The cop said "Do you know why I pulled you over". I said " Well, that all depends on how long you have been following me!"

By the way, standard rims were 14" with ER78S14 (4 ply) or ER70H14 (6 ply) tyres (for the XD model that is)

Fairmont Ghias and ESPs were the only XE's with 15's - both snowflakes - ESPs were gold while Ghias were polished alloy and black. I'm pretty sure these were 15 x 7.

XD ESPs (both Falcon and Ghia) were the only model with 15's. The globes were 15 x 7.
ER60H x 15

as Shaynet said - standard tyres on the XD were Uniroyal ER60H x 15 and I replaced mine with 225 60x15s. I've always run a 60 tyre whether it's Bridgestone etc. My brother-in-law runs 215 60x15s on his xf ghia (same wheel as the XE's) so i guess any 60 Series tyre will see you right.

Cheers

The rims fitted to XD and XE Fairmont Ghia ESP were all 15" x 7" (Globe Bathurst on XD and Gold Snowflake on XE). The original tyres were Unroyal Wild Cat in ER 60 H 15, which translates to 225/60HR15 in the current tyre size.
