Unless your mechanic is gunna be real nice, and charge you just a little bit above trade, then see if you can them cheap and then have him put them in.
You may be lucky like I was with my XF and know the mechanic very well, and he helped me get the bits cheap, and I did the work, and got to use his tools and his advice, and it cost me only parts and some help around the shop while I was there, pretty cool huh :0)

Watch them fix them, I also used to spend a number of nights there cash in hand (always good) to change over gearboxes, or engines, when the workload was high I would get called in to help out.

You've pretty much gotta watch them, from what I hear/see there are a lot of dodgy bastards around who'll rip you off given half a chance.
I fix people's cars cheap as a hobby, and I see a fair few who've been screwed by some mechanic....this is why I do all my own work.

i only got new lower controll arms put in about 3 months ago... best money ive spent on the car. handled better, smoother driving, it made a huge difference. cost me $200 bux too, which aint too steep!
