Hi all,

just wondering how wide I could go under both the front & rear of my EB with 15" steelies. I'm hoping that 8" up front, and 9" or 10" in the arse end (providing the 10" ones don't stick outside of the guards) are legally/physically do-able.

Standard (sidewall) profile tyres of course! I want to put EF Futura or EL GLi hubcaps on 'em to maintain a factory look for the EB.

If 16s are better for brake clearance, etc, then same deal as above, steelies that are 8" wide up front & 9 or 10" up back (then I'll just chuck AU or BA hubcaps over them)

Not likely mate i had 15x7 Dragway indys on an EB and the fronts would catch on the guards when turning.
But why would you want to put wheels like that on it anyway?

15x7s rubbing?!? how low was your car though? My ride height is the slightest touch below standard ride height...

I'm pretty certain my factory mags (15s) are 7" wide...

my car was lowered with Lovells springs and the Dragways have a wide offset

So what kind of offset would be required for 15x9s or 15x10s (with standard tyre sidewall profile) for under the rear guards? Without the tyres sticking out past the guard lips too...

mattlea1: sorry I didn't read your reply properly. I want standard looking wheels as I'm not into the whole bling bling thing (no offence to the 99% of people out there who like putting larger diameter wheels on their cars). I do however like the "fat" look of having wider tyres. What I am ultimately asking is how wide I can go (front & rear) without causing drivability issues, and how wide I can go without having the tyres going past the guards themselves. I'm guessing I'll have to look into offsets, as you mentioned your dragways had wide offsets.

i dont think it would be possible to fit 10 inch wheels without having big rubbing problems especially when you have it loaded up you have to remember unlike a Falcon coupe the EB was never designed to accept anything wider than probably an 8inch wheel

Do you have any idea how ridiculous 10" wheels with AU hubcaps will look? What do you mean you're not into the "bling bling" thing? Most wheels wider than 8" and things like Cragars and Centerlines and Simmons, how are they "bling bling"? As far as I know the "bling bling" craze is pretty new, but wheels like Cragar SS's and Convo Pros have been around for decades and sure as hell don't look "bling bling". You mock people who like large diameter wheels that actually look good, but you're the one who will look like a complete toss driving around with big fat hub caps.

Thanks mate, this is what I was interested in knowing! I guess I'll most likely go for 8s all-round then as I don't want to make the car undrivable (I'll do a tyreyard crawl one day when I have the time, & do a bit of *shopping*).

Mike Gayner, please read the FF T&C. Your post does not contribute to the thread in any way, other than you expressing your opinion. Also, you might like to read my previous post more carefully, I was not ridiculing all the people out there who DO possess large diameter wheels.

Everyone, Mike in particular (can I refer to you in first name terms, or would you prefer Mr Gayner?) I apologise for the inappropriate use of the term "Bling Bling" (I was picturing NEW 17s & larger being "bling bling"), as I did not intend to upset anyone as devastatingly as Mike/Mr Gayner has demonstrated. Also, I apologise for sharing my thoughts on what I'd like to do to my car, once again I did not intend to upset anyone with the possible mental image of a late model car with hubcaps (and heaven forbid, it's not lowered either, nor will it be!)

Granted... An EB is not an XA-XC Coupe

But the EBGT had 17 x 8.5 inch rims...

With a bit of careful guard lip rolling...
you may be able to get 15x9's under there
