XB Fairmont Sedan - Biggest wheels?

I've got an XB Fairmont Sedan and wanna put a mean looking set of treads on the back. What's the biggest, widest, tallest size wheels I can stick on it before I have to start modding the car, and if I were to cut/fold/modify the body, what sort of a price range would I be looking at?

Re: XB Fairmont Sedan - Biggest wheels?

I have 10.5" wide 26.5" tall 16" tyres under mine. Biggest street tyre I've had under there was 255 and it rubbed due to leaf spring flex in corners. The leaf springs swayed side to side. Nolethane bushes fixed that. There was at least 1.5cm clearance easy. My 10.5" slicks are wider and don't rub. I think I can get a 275 wide tyre under easy enough.

Had 28 x 91/2 x 15 Et Drag Slicks under an XC with no mods to the body at all, lips etc untouched. Agree with Brenx a 275 road tyre should fit no probs

Don't roll the guards if you can help it. Seen too many fuged up in the process, mine included + once it's done theres no turning back.

That's exactly why I don't want to modify the body at all.

My old chassis guards were the same as they left the factory in 1975. So you'll have no issues provided the rims are the correct offset.
