XB Handbrake woes

My handbrake hadn't been used for a long time on my car, i've replaced the front cable, one side is fine but the other side didn't work at all, i've had the caliper apart and put it back together, but its weak so its slightly working, they test the brakes on a rolling road and it wont pass the test, any ideas ?

cheers

Re: XB Handbrake woes

I have the same problem with my XC setup in my XB. I have to be careful or one grabs all the time if I go to far.

Re: XB Handbrake woes

well i've ordered a caliper repair kit, and will try that before modifying the lever, or trying on different calipers from say a mustang etc.

Re: XB Handbrake woes

i used to have trouble getting the hand brake to work on my XB with XC disc brake 9 inch.
i put a kit in the calipers and cleaned them up and that fixed it.

have you checked the long cable where it passes though the mounts in case it is binding up on one side .

PS is that the car in the pic. looking good.

Re: XB Handbrake woes

I had already rebuilt my calipers before I tried adjustment. It seems that no matter what I did the drivers side would always pull first. The cable does not pull evenly as it does on new cars.

Re: XB Handbrake woes

i have seen the answer in street machine this month with rrs's brake kit for 9in's, its a lot of money though, just to fix the poxy handbrake, if the rotors and calipers were shot as well, it wouldn't hurt so much
