XB & XF Stub axle interchangeabilty

Am I correct in the assumption that I can bolt on the front discs from an XF falcon onto my 74 XB without have to change the stub axle?

I've only done this on an XY.

Just make sure you get the correct wheel bearings.

I had to get ones which had the XY inside diameter and the XF outside diameter, the XB and XF may be the same not sure.

Re: XB & XF Stub axle interchangeabilty

Hi,

Not sure if the following comments will help but....
I went though the process of upgrading the brakes on a '69 Mustang. The car had discs originally. I found that the better pad compounds like Bendix Ultimates were only available in the XF caliper configuration. I found the XF claipers bolted straight up and also used DBA slotted rotors. It stops quite well now.

Re: XB & XF Stub axle interchangeabilty

The XB-XF disc bolts onto the XA-XB stub axle. All bearings from XA to XF are the same. There is a difference between the two setups. The round grease shield that bolts onto the dust plate is smaller on the XA-XB stub axle than the XB-XF stub axles. With the smaller grease shield the XB-XF hub won't slide all the way onto the spindle.

Hence to fit a XF disc onto an XA also requires the larger grease shield.
