XC ute suspension height

According to the shop manual the XC ute has 2" more ground clearence then the passenger cars. Anyone know the difference in parts that accounts for this 2"?

I do realize the ute has a few extra leafs in the rear spring but it seems to me that if you put longer coil springs on the front is would throw the steering geography off.

Reason I'm asking? My ute never goes off road and seldom carries anything (translation: I don't use it as a truck) and I'm thinking of droping it 2"
