I've put this in the suspension section, but had no takers. Does anybody know anything about upper stabiliser arms for the XW/XY. I've got a fairmont (disk front end) and I've been told to change the upper stabiliser arm with ones from an XC due to them having a better ball joint setup. Does anybody know?????
You mean the upper control arms..It's not the ball joints but the XC arms have rubber bushes for the pivots rather than the old greasable ones in the XY's..The XC arms will fit straight in to an XW-XY..The only thing to do is to cut about a 1/4" of the end of the pivot shaft on the outside of the nut to shorten it slightly..
Once done there's no more squeaks.
Thanks for the help Gregaust. Yeh, I do mean the upper control arms. I'm going from an old manual and they call them stabiliser arms. I thought I was getting it wrong by knowing them as control arms. I might try a wreckers and see if I can get hold of a set.
