00 Windstar locks/unlocks doors by itself
I have a 2000 Windstar that started locking/unlock the doors by itself. Sometimes it would even do a honk as if someone has pressed the lock button on the fob too many times. Now the van won't honk even if you do press lock or unlock too many times on the fob.
At first I thought something was rubbing up against the fob in my wife's purse but that was not the case. I replaced the battery in both fobs.
Is there a computer chip or or short or something that might be causing this? I have read other people having problem with locking/unlocking doors manually and needing to lube a door latch but I don't think this is the case. Since the horn fails to honk after repeated pushes of the lock or unlock button, I think something has broke or shorted out. I don't have any other problems with this van...
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
