I have an 2002 Windstar with a Check Engine Light on. Autozone scanned it and came back with P1401 and he wasn't sure what this code was.

After a few phone calls, he told me I needed an EGR Pressure Sensor. When I got home I started looking into it because I am not too familiar with emissions.

Everything I read showed the code to be DPFE Sensor High Voltage. I saw a few sites where people said they cleaned their hoses and wires and reset and everything was fine. Some said that they changed a sensor and everything was fine.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone ever seen this and dealt with it?
2. Is it easy to get to because I am having trouble locating these sensors?

I haven't looked in any manuals, but I figured maybe someone could help...anything would be appreciated.

HI we had that code as well and we replaced the DPFE sensor wich is on the right side of your engine toward the front,right on top next to the battery, its flat on the top and has two hoses that go up into the bottom of it, on the right side of it is the wire harness. All you do is disconnect your neg battery cable, then un clip the wire harness (you really have to push down on the inside clip of the harness to get it off.) Then just pull back and forth to get the sensor off of the two hoses. Then just put the new one on and reconnect your battery. I got ours at autozone, here is the link.
