Just purchased a new to me Freestar. Owner told me mirrors were inop due to aftermarket alarm/remote start install. Also found cruise control and power 1/4 vents inop. Installer checked system and said not their fault. Suggested under hood fusebox bad, common point to defective components, says well known Ford problem.

Pulled trim and both 1/4 vents had + or - 12V at plug depending on switch position. Pulled motors and they ran with direct h/u to spare battery. Sluggish and then not at all when connected to circut. "Answer now" rep says motors are bad. Seems like low power. 12V but not enough current?

Have not gotten to cruise or mirrows.

Anybody have experience with this?

update on my post:

Ordered new vent motors. Hooked 12V battery to motor connected to window and they would barely move.

Mirrors worked when hooked direct to battery. Bad switch?

Cruise control worked once after disconnecting neg battery terminal to reboot system. Would not work again even after another reboot. Stumped on this so far.
