I've been having problems with my passenger side window. It actually started last summer and I just now have time to get to it...

Anyway, the problem started in the middle of our trip to Montreal last year, the passenger side window just stopped working. The driver side window works fine and the rear windows open and close just as well. The passenger side window does not do anything at all, just stays up. I've tried to use the driver and passenger side control and it does nothing...no sound, clicks, or anything.

Does anyone know what it could be? I noticed that there isn't a separate fuse for either window just one in the engine and that seems to work. I've taken it out to test it and the windows stop working when I do so I don't think it's that fuse.

Isn't there a relay underneath the dash, could that be the problem but if it is, wouldn't all the windows stop?

It's just weird how it stopped working and it never had any problems before that...

Any suggestions would be welcomed...thanks!!!

Operate the switch with the engine off and watch the dome light. If it dims, the motor will need replacing. You can get it to work temporarily by banging the bottom of the door with a rubber mallot while pressing the switch. It may take a few hits. If it starts working, you'll know the motor will quit again soon.

So just turn on the dome light and bang on the door right? Do I hit the inside or outside of the door?

If the lights don't dim, what could it be?

Well...nothing happened. I pushed the button, couldn't really tell if the lights actually dimmed at all, banged on the door and nothing happened.

I did notice that the courtesy light on the bottom of the door was out, not sure how long it has been out since I rarely sit on the passenger side but is that at all related to the power window not working?

What else could the problem be?

I want to take of the door panel to take a look but can't figure out how to do it. Should I check the driver side too since that control does not work for the passenger side or is the main control on the driver side too?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!

Could be a break in wiring harnes through door . Need to strip it down to check and also test if power getting to motor .

You can read the wiring diagram on the Autozone website. The problem could be in a lot of locations. Hitting the BOTTOM of the door. I t takes a few good wacks sometimes. If the dome lights don't dim, then the motor may not be the problem. Sounds like a test light and wiring diagram are needed.
