1998 Windstar 3.0 starts and runs great when it cool outside. When it's hot outside it wont start or if it does it runs very, very rough. The check engine light is on. Why? temp sensor? Also the plug under the dash for a code reader does not work. Even the ford dealer said that somthing was wrong with it.
Check the fuses. Sometimes a fuse can blow and the DLC becomes useless. If all fuses are good I would have the DLC diagnosed and then you can check for any codes. The code(s) may point you in the exact direction you need to go to fix the run rough/hard start issue.
