1999 Ford Windstar..3.8 liter engine..This minivan belongs to a friend of mine and im looking at it to possibly buy as a second vehicle.it has been setting for almost 2 years.. i put a charged battery on and the fuel tank was empty so i put a few gallons of gas in the tank. i then proceded to crank the engine. i turned the key to start position and nothing. i can turn the switch on and arc the siloniod on the starter and the engine will turn over but wont start. any ideas of what i can try to get this van started ?

Does the fuel pump run for a few seconds when the key is turned to run? Does it have spark when you crank it over?

Was it running fine before he parked it? I would change the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter and add some octane booster to the fuel before starting. When you turn the key, do you hear the fuel pump? Listen at the fuel door while someone is turning the key. You may have to pump the gas while starting to get the gas running through the lines. Don't crank too much! Only crank the engine a couple of times then let it rest for a few minutes before trying again!
