2001 Ford Windstar...Cruise Control issues

Hello All...My neighbor is buying a 2001 Ford Windstar LX with a 107K on it...It is in really good shape...First does anyone know if there is a recall issue on the "Cruise Control"?? I know there are two on the Corrosion issue for the Rear Axle and the front control arm.

The Cruise control will not work...I have checked all fuses and are good....Some one said something about a "Brake Control Switch Recall"...can anyone advise???

Re: 2001 Ford Windstar...Cruise Control issues

That recall may not fix the problem. In some cases, the system was disconnected until the parts came in.

I've been good. I just wish the Packers would have gone all the way. Hope all is well with you.

You mean Ford did a Recall on this issue...yet it may not fix it??? Hell how long would it take to get the right parts??

Bert...What should I check for?? the cruise will not ingage, and set after 40mph...I also heard there was some type of self diagnosis test for the system... if thats true how do we preform this.

If Ford is not going to make good on this Recall...where should my friend turn to??

Re: 2001 Ford Windstar...Cruise Control issues

The recall was for a fire issue not an inoperative problem. The system always worked with the switch wiring problem, as far as I've known. The switch on the master cylinder can cause it to be inop. Check this. Cruise control 2001 Windstar

Exclamation Re: 2001 Ford Windstar...Cruise Control issues

Ahoy Sterling 6 ,My Windstar's cruise gave up on me a while back and fixed it by spraying a bit of contact cleaner in the steering wheel buttons to clean the contacts. I think the contacts may have been contaminated by using Armorall anyway it's worked perfect since. Hope this may help. Good luck

Re: 2001 Ford Windstar...Cruise Control issues

We just bought a used 2000 Windstar- the cable separated where it attaches to the throttle under the hood. The connector just gave out. Is yours intact?
