2001 Windstar Electrical Issues

Hi there,
I work on semi-tractors for a living, I play around with automotive stuff occasionally. I just looked at friends 2001 Windstar 3.8l with some weird issues, after googling around i see this isn't the only Windstar with electrical problems, however i couldn't find anyone who has had these specific problems.
After turning the key off, taking it out of the ignition, sometimes the radio will come on after awhile, sometimes the 4 ways start going off, leaving the battery dead. Sometimes upon key-on the gauges go goofy and erratic. It seems like this vehicle has a FEM(front electric module), could that be defective? The battery is good, alternator is putting out 14.30 Volts. I checked all the obvious connections under the hood. Where do I go from here? Any Info is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Re: 2001 Windstar Electrical Issues

There have been cases where the windshield has been replaced and leaks on the fuse box and GEM (FEM). Do you have a wiring diagram for it? You can add the vehicle here and look at the repair guide and then wiring diagrams. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/

Being a mechanic (technician) you know how hard intermittant problems are to find.
