Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

Thanks again. Now do you know the best way of locating anything that may cause this?

Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

Fuse 106 under the hood feeds the circuit to 8 under the dash. It's the only place it goes from 106 with a Dark blue/ light green tracer wire. In the under dash paney it feeds that fuse and the Accessory delay relay. Just worry about fuse 8 and the wire and fuse 106 for now.

Thumbs up Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

Sounds like a great place to start thanks. Who knows maybe this works out and other stuff may start to work? One can only hope!

Thanks again and I'll start on that asap.

Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

I just thought of this, but when I jump the power to fuse 8 it will stay working until the van is off for more then 15 min's. When I first jump it I hear a relay click, buthave not found it. Have changed all the I/P fuse box relays and still no change.

I'll start what you told me about as well. The van sat fpr about 14 months so maybe something is coroded between links.....

Thanks

Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

Got someplace with the lighting today. I went through the engine compartment fuse box and found nothing wrong. After that I tore apart the rear hatch and dug around for a spell and found a broken wire inside the plug for the door adjar sensor. Couldn't fix it so I jumped the two ends together and the interior lights, auto shut off and auto locks now work. One small win.

Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

Question? I am still trying to get the fuse power without the jump, but when I do jump it I do hear a click. O only hear with my left ear so I can not tell directions, but it sounds like it is from the FEM. Is this possible? I have checked the modules and they are ok as far as I can tell.

Next, the keyless system will not cycle after you turn the key the 8 times as in the book. Nothing happens at all ! I am going to check to see if there is power to the module today, but I just read something on the net about the keyless module being in the driver's door? Am I checking the wrong black box under the dash?

Re: 2001 Windstar electrical stuff

You need to get power from fuse #106 to power up fuse #8. Get that going first.
