Hi, got a 2001 Windstar 3.8, starts fine,drive for a bit then all of a sudden, the engine wants to cut out,sputters as if it would be flooded,let go of gas, then it will idle ok untill try to drive, wont go, spits and stutters, all plugs,wires and coil pack is brand new, still got the same problem, vehicule is not driveable once warmed up, any help would be great

Autozone will pull codes for free. That will help.

in canada, and don't have autozone, the codes it had before was for missfire, but have changed the coilpack wires and plugs, code did not come back after

Checked timing and compressions ?

my mechanic seams to be lost, he is going to check fuel pressure today, i think i will swing by and see, as allready got 400 bucks in it with no result, don't really want to put much more in it, do you think i might of blown a head gasket ?

Compression check would let you know rather than guess and throw on parts maybe not needed and eliminates other possible causes .

well finaly after they checked the fuel pressure, they check air intake, found that the air filter was torn apart and was blocking air, and that was causing the problem with the engine, new air filter and everything is fine, just wish they found that before spending 200 bucks in time
