I have a 2001 Windstar with 112,000 miles and the transmission is slipping in first gear. Reverse, 2 and 1 work well. When shifting from R to D the van will sometimes roll a little until the transmission engages. Once in D it will move forward in idle and with very little acceleration. However, once I accelerate normally the engine revs and I go nowhere. This might happen once or twice before engaging normally. If I start in 2 and then shift manually to D everything goes well until I stop. Trans fluid was full. Had fluid flushed a few days ago. Still no help. Went back to the shop and there are no codes. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the clutch packs. Either they're stuck (which means you probably need a rebuild) or they're worn out (which means you DO need a rebuild). I had the tranny go in our Pontiac a few years back and was all set to rebuild it myself until AAMCO gave me a quote of less than what the parts would have cost me ($1400) with a year warranty if I brought it in myself. The one here was also willing to finance if I needed it.
