2001 windstar w/P0171 & P0174

My check engine light came on and I took my van to AutoZone and got a reading showing P0171 & P0174. My nephew replaced the MAF and 2 02 sensors, but the light is still on. A coworker told me the light will take 1-2 weeks to go off after replacing these sensors. Is this correct? I need to take the van for inspection soon?

Thanks

I would go ahead and have the codes cleared. This will get the light to go off, but it will take several driving cycles before it will pass.

Re: 2001 windstar w/P0171 & P0174

Here is the fix. The air intake plenum has loosened up. Take the upper air intake plenum off and tighten the lower one. You may even want to replace the gaskets while you are at it ($120.00 from autozone). Too much air gets into the intake and gives false readings at your sensors. The fix is easy, takes about 45 minutes.
