sitting at a light, upon acceleration away it died, wouldn't start, towed home.

checked battery voltage, ~11.25, jumped it and it started. while running voltage was ~13.8.

also - no codes

took 2 year old battery back to costco and got a new one. checked running voltage at battery again ~14

today, battery light comes on a few times. haven't checked voltage yet.

I'm suspecting the alternator, but is there any computer malfunction that might cause this?

It's more than likely a bad alternator. Voltage may be there but amperage output may be insufficient.

Most part stores can load test the alternator for you if you carry it in.

Aside from the alternator, also check the alternator regulator.
