Has any one removed the fan clutch for replacement or as part of replacing
the water pump?

I'm replacing the water pump on a 93 aerostar 3.0L rear wheel drive.

I found a notice on the shroud that says the threads are left handed.
Which implies turn it clockwise to remove.
(contrary to the normal "righty tighty" "lefty loosey" rule )

Even with both belts tight the only thing I could do was turn the engine.

The local parts house had a tool that they say goes over the bolts like
a spanner wrench. The only catch is the pulley is in the way.

Any suggestions Will be greatly appreciated,
