99 Windstar Transmission Failure
Has anyone encountered this problem?
I have a 99 Windstar with a 3.8L V6. I was idling at a stop light, then when I pressed the accelerator and the vehicle just started to roll, I head a loud thud and then the vehicle felt like it was in neutral. I tried shifting to the higher gears and still the transmission was not engaging. I tried the reverse and it does work. There are no unusual sounds when I am shifted into any of the forward gears. But I do not hear the usual sound of the transmission shifting into gear when I put the shift lever into any of the forward gears.
I'm going to take it into a transmission shop, so I wanted to get an idea of what type of failures would be associated with the symptoms I just described.
