I have a 1995 Ford E250 Van. The Tone indicator was sounding 5 beeps, 5 times and the dash indicator was not lighting up. I checked the bulb and it had been pulled out so I replaced the bulb in the dash indicator. Now the dash Airbag indicator flashes and the Tone generator is silent. According to the Service manual for this van, the airbag indicator displays trouble codes. Does the airbag diagnostic monitor have a display that shows these codes? If not how are the codes obtained? My dash light just shows "AIRBAG". Do you count the flashes? Mine flashes once, then twice. Pauses and repeats. Is that Trouble Code 12 then?

Once you remove the bulb,the system reverts to an audible tone indicating a problem with the indicator light system.

Yes that is Air Bag code 12. From what I can find, code 12 means there is no power to the Air Bag system. Check the fuses to the ABS system.

Okay so that is how you determine the trouble code by the way it actually flashes? I have checked all of the Airbag related fuses but not the ABS (anti-lock brake) system. Are they related?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean ABS fuses, I was meaning Air Bag fuses.

Yes, the flash once, pause and flash twice is a 12 code.

I'll see if I can dig up some more info for you in this issue.

Okay here's the lastest. When I first had the problems I removed the main Air Bag fuse (slot 15 - 20a). I forgot to put it back after replacing the lamp. Replaced the fuse and mow it is error code 23 which is the Safing Sensor. Not sure if I can go any further on this based on what I am reading in the Service Manual. May be beyond my scope of troubleshooting but I'm goona grab my mutli-meter and see what I can find out.
