Brake lights stay on

Hello Ford fellas
I have a 86 ford Aerostar Van & the brake lights/tail lights stay on. Is this an indication of low brake fluid level?
Also the "Rear ABS" warning light is on in the bash. Whats up ?

Hello and good day to you:

Low Brake Fluid would not leave your Brake Lights on....I would strongly suggest that you start with the Brake Pedal Switch...This may be loose or there may be a short in the switch itself. Spray WD-40 on the brake light switch mechanism. Take a flashlight and look under the dash and you will see it connected to the brake pedal.

Check this link: While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com

If it is not the Switch you may have a dead ground..causing the lamp to stay on.

Good luck and good repairing.

Re: Brake lights stay on

Tried the WD40 trick to no avail. Turns out it was the Brake Pedal Switch. But it also needed brake pads. Double whammy... but we got it fixed. My son drives the old soccer mom van so i don't always get to catch a problem before it becomes a bigger problem. Know what i mean? Anyway... Thanks for the reply.
