I don't see any problem with the compression readings. Have you ever cleaned the MAF? There's a special cleaner for them.

Re: A Check Engine light that won't go off no matter how much money I've thrown at it

As far as I can tell, it's a bad MAF. I am not sure I want to clean it. This has been the headache from hell. My girlfriend is bitching a fit because I am not a mechanic, she takes it back every time I fix the car properly.

I have taken it to several mechanics now with no results $490.. Glad I found it myself, I could have paid an arm and a leg to diagnose that problem.

There have been no flashing check engine lights all day and I had the codes erased tonight and hopefully, when I drive around tomorrow, I guess I'll conclude the whole mess.

What should I do about that oil in the air cleaning tube? Replace the PCV valve or tubing and valves?

UPDATE: Cleaning the MAF didn't help. I guess I'll have to buy one.

New MAF didn't help, although I still haven't had ANY misfires with it disconnected..

What the heck...

Where'd you get the MAF. It sure sounds like that's what's wrong. Take it back there should be a warranty on it. When you unplug it it goes into limp mode and that shows the MAF is giving improper readings. Is it doing the exact same as the old one? Maybe the conection to it has a problem. Check the pins.

Cleaned the EGR ports and it's all good! (hopefully). I took it for a drive and did my best to induce the problem. Didn't see any Check engine light.

That's great. Let's hope that was it and you're all done with that. You did learn a lot with what you did. Those are even hard to find for full time mechanics. Thanks for letting us know.
